A video has emerged that allegedly shows a fire chief vandalizing a rare 1995 Nissan Nismo 270R parked next to the firehouse where he works. Joshua Scolnick, the fire chief, is seen in the video damaging the car, which belongs to Mark Bahna, a collector and seller of Japanese sports cars. According to Bahna, Scolnick was upset about rainwater from his sump pump seeping over to the Arbor Hose Company #1 next door.
Bahna’s attorney, Mark Speed, has stated that they are exploring all legal options and have reached out to the parties involved in writing. The attorney mentioned that they are waiting for a response to the situation. Bahna’s car holds sentimental value as it is number five out of the 30 produced by Nissan in 1995 and it holds great importance for him since his childhood when he grew up watching movies like “The Fast and the Furious.”
Efforts were made to reach out to Scolnick at the firehouse where he works but there were no responses. Similarly, Piscataway Fire District No. 3 did not respond to messages. Scolnick has been charged with third-degree criminal mischief and was released on a summons complaint. The incident has caused an uproar in the community and left Bahna exploring legal options to address the damage caused to his prized sports car.
