Muncy’s senior pitcher Nolah Moyer, who is committed to Division I St. Bonaventure, led her team to a 13-0 victory over Bucktail in the Mid-Penn championship game. This win secured Muncy’s second consecutive championship and placed them at the top of the league standings with an undefeated record of 17-0.
Moyer was outstanding in the game, pitching a one-hit shutout while also going 3 for 3 at bat and hitting a home run. She also drove in five runs, helping Muncy maintain its lead throughout the game. Catcher Taylor Shannon also had a standout performance, going 3 for 3 with two home runs and five RBIs.
Bucktail’s Gianna Balchun broke up Moyer’s no-hit bid in the fifth inning, but it was too little too late for them as they finished with a final score of 13-0 in favor of Muncy after five innings of play. Casey Fry and Kaylyn Rice contributed with doubles for Muncy, with Rice driving in a run and Fry scoring three times.
The win solidified Muncy’s position as a top contender in the league and they will look to maintain their unbeaten record as they head into the home stretch of the season. Their next game will be against Mifflinburg at home, while Bucktail will play Jersey Shore in Farwell. Both teams displayed strong performances throughout the game, but Muncy’s dominant offense and stellar pitching by Moyer proved to be too much for Bucktail to overcome.
