The six organizations that North Dakota Health and Human Services has recently chosen to receive funding for its suicide prevention initiative are all dedicated to supporting individuals struggling with mental health issues. These groups include Minot State University’s Center for Persons with Disabilities, Peer Vision for Mental Health, Haugen Performance Consulting, Eyes on the Horizon Consulting, Consensus Council, and Cook Center for Human Connection.
Melissa Markegard, the suicide prevention administrator for HHS, emphasized the importance of early intervention in preventing suicide. She highlighted that everyone shares the same goal of reducing and eliminating suicide within the state of North Dakota. If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please reach out for help by calling or texting 9-8-8. This hotline operates 24/7 to provide support to those in need.
