Senator Ossoff Secures Federal Funding for Community Healthcare Systems in Georgia

U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff has announced his commitment to improving healthcare for families in East and Central Georgia. He has secured Federal funding for Community Health Care Systems to purchase new equipment for its 18 clinics across Central and Eastern Georgia. These clinics are located in Macon-Bibb, Johnson, Washington, Twiggs, Wilkinson, Laurens, Jones, Telfair, Taliaferro, Jefferson, Warren, Hancock, Glascock and Baldwin Counties.

With the Federal funding, Community Health Care Systems plans to purchase barrier-free bariatric lift tables and wheelchair scales to reduce the risk of falling and injury to patients and increase access to care in its clinics. Senator Ossoff worked with Republicans and Democrats to allocate $132,000 for the project through this year’s bipartisan government funding package.

Senator Ossoff emphasized the importance of upgrading equipment and facilities at Community Health Care Systems’ clinics across Georgia in order to strengthen rural healthcare in the state. He thanked CEO Carla Belcher for bringing the proposal to his office and for her leadership in the community.

Carla Belcher expressed her gratitude to Senator Ossoff for his support and advocacy in securing Federal funding for their health care system. She explained that the funding will be used to equip each of their clinics with a bariatric lift exam table and wheelchair-accessible scales. The new equipment will allow them to continue providing high-quality primary health care while reducing the risk of falling and injury during patient examinations.
