The CAA Baseball Weekly Awards for the week ending April 1st, 2024 were announced, and several standout players were recognized. Northeastern graduate outfielder/designated hitter Alex Lane was named the Player of the Week after batting .500 with two home runs and 12 RBI’s in five games played.
Alex Lane, a senior from Andover, Mass., had an outstanding performance during the week. He drove in multiple runs in four out of the five games played and extended his hitting streak to 13 games. Lane currently leads the CAA with 46 RBI’s and is one of the top hitters in the league.
Another impressive player was William & Mary junior Nate Knowles, who received the Pitcher of the Week award for his strong performances on the mound. Knowles went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, allowing only two singles over 7.1 innings while recording 11 strikeouts. His impressive pitching helped lead William & Mary to a perfect record during the week.
Taye Robinson, a freshman from Gaithersburg, Md., was also recognized as Rookie of the Week for his excellent performance at bat. Robinson batted .429 with two doubles and four RBI’s in three games played. He scored at least one run in each game and stole two bases during the week. Robinson has been a valuable addition to Towson’s team this season and is one of the top freshmen players in the league.
Overall, these three players had outstanding weeks and were well-deserving of their respective awards. They all contributed significantly to their teams’ success during this important week in CAA baseball competition.
