NBC Sports has had its most successful season with the Premier League in 2023-24, marking the 11th year of their partnership with the top tier of U.K. soccer. The renewed media rights deal was the second season for this arrangement. Across NBC and USA Network, as well as on Peacock streaming platform, Premier League games averaged 546,000 viewers this season, surpassing the previous record set in the 2015-16 season. Viewership was up by 4% compared to the previous year.
Championship Sunday, the final day of the season, was also a huge success for viewership with over 5 million viewers tuning in on U.S airwaves, breaking the previous record set in 2022. Six of the seven best EPL audiences in America occurred during this past season and all of them were NBC-led matches. The Manchester City-Arsenal match on March 31 was particularly popular with over 2 million viewers watching it live.
Peacock also saw success this past season with exclusive matches and now hosts three of the most-streamed EPL matches in America. Viewers of EPL matches on Peacock streamed more live minutes than ever before with a whopping increase of 28% compared to last season’s numbers.
NBC has been pushing for more Premier League matches to be staged in America and this push has contributed significantly to both viewership and popularity of Premier League in America among fans who love watching these games live from home or on their devices via streaming platforms like Peacock.
Overall, NBC Sports’ partnership with Premier League continues to be fruitful and successful as they work together to bring world-class soccer action to American audiences while promoting growth for both organizations involved.
