Mommy & Me Sourdough Painting: A Unique Mother’s Day Class Experience

2 min read

Amanda Flann discovered her love for baking in January 2022 when she started growing her own sourdough starter. It wasn’t long before she launched a direct-to-consumer, porch-pickup baked goods business in June of the same year. Throughout her baking process, her three-year-old daughter, Scottie, was always by her side lending a helpful hand.

Flann wanted to create a business that would allow her to stay home with her daughter while also pursuing her passion for baking. The business, called As Much As You Knead, quickly became popular and helped Flann connect with people in the community. In December 2022, she began offering sourdough-making classes to share her love of baking with others.

For Mother’s Day last year, Flann offered pre-painted bread decorated with flowers as a unique gift for those who wanted to show their appreciation for their moms. Now, she and Scottie are preparing to host a class together where parents and children can create their own painted bread together.

The upcoming “Mommy & Me Sourdough Painting” class will take place at Poly’s Place Coffee on Saturday, May 11 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The registration fee is $45 and participants will receive a freshly baked sourdough loaf to decorate using food-safe paint and markers. Flann is excited about this opportunity to work alongside Scottie and share her love of baking with others while also creating lasting memories together as mother and daughter team up for this fun class!
