Irfan Pathan, the former Indian all-rounder, has given his insights on India’s squad selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup. In an interview with Star Sports, Pathan revealed his ideal lineup for the tournament and detailed his choices for each position within the team.
According to Pathan, Rohit Sharma should open the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal, followed by Virat Kohli at No.3 and Suryakumar Yadav at No.4. He then recommended Rinku Singh, Rishabh Pant, and Shivam Dube for the middle-order positions at No. 5 and 6, and Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja for No. 7 and 8 in the lower middle order.
In terms of bowling, Pathan believes that Kuldeep Yadav should be included in the squad as a wrist spinner, while Ravi Bishnoi could also be considered due to his skills as a fielder. For pace bowling, he suggests Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj as his top picks.
Pathan also addressed the issue of selecting an extra batter, suggesting that both Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson could be contenders for that position. He proposed that one could be included in the 15-member squad while the other could be selected as a traveling reserve.
Overall, Pathan’s suggested lineup for India’s T20 World Cup squad includes a strong mix of experienced players and promising talents to effectively cover all aspects of the game.
