Hamas Delegation Returns to Qatar After Failed Ceasefire Talks as Israel Continues Offensive in Rafah

2 min read

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) delegation has left Cairo for Qatar after ceasefire negotiations. No progress has been made yet in the talks. Izat al Rishq, a senior official in Hamas’ political arm, reiterated that Hamas is sticking to its position in the negotiations.

Despite Hamas accepting a ceasefire proposal, Israel decided to continue its offensive and launched a ground incursion in Rafah. Al Rishq accused Israel of launching the offensive to block the efforts of the mediators and escalate aggression. He claimed that Israel is not serious about reaching an agreement and is using negotiations as a cover for invading Rafah.
