The Detroit High School Sports Awards, presented by Detroit Area Honda Dealers, has unveiled the nominees for Boys and Girls Wrestler of the Year. The grand finale event will take place on June 18 at The Fillmore Detroit in a partnership with the U.S. Army as part of an nine-month recognition program for student-athletes in the greater Detroit region.
The live show will honor athletes, coaches, and teams who participate in sanctioned Michigan High School Athletic Association sports, and will feature nominees for various awards including player of the year for each recognized sport. Additional accolades such as the Courage Award, Coaches of the Year, Teams of the Year, and Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year will also be presented. All nominated athletes who RSVP will receive complimentary tickets to attend thanks to sponsors. Nominated athletes can register online while guests can purchase tickets on the event’s website.
The nominees for Boys Wrestler of the Year include Connor Bercume, Wyatt Hepner, Zak Knapp, Darius Marines, Mason Stewart and Brock Trevino. For Girls Wrestler of the Year, nominees include Margaret Buurma
