In Plateau State, Nigeria, a 19-year-old woman named Lisah Dachor recently completed an incredible feat by painting over 4,000 nails in just 72 hours. With a palette of vibrant colors such as blue, pink, and purple, she decorated hundreds of fingernails at an events center in her hometown.
Dachor’s three-day marathon reached its climax on Wednesday with a nail-biting finish. In order to potentially break the Guinness World Record (GWR), she had to paint 60 fingernails per hour, following strict GWR rules. She has now submitted evidence to GWR for review.
What motivated Dachor to take on this challenge? It went beyond personal achievement for her. She wanted to change perceptions about teen mothers like herself and inspire hope in single mothers who may feel overlooked. As a nail technician with nearly three years of experience under her belt, she also wanted to showcase women from northern Nigeria and shed light on her home state of Plateau.
Despite being known for its scenic beauty, Plateau has faced ongoing issues of insecurity and conflict among different ethnic and religious groups. Dachor is determined to highlight the positive aspects of Plateau and challenge negative stereotypes about the area. She received support from all ethnic groups in Plateau during her record attempt, showing that unity is possible despite the diversity of the region.
