In May, eight radiologic technology students from Wor-Wic Community College passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam on their first attempt. This achievement surpassed the national first-time pass rate average of 84.4%, making it a significant milestone for the program.
A ceremony was held to celebrate the graduates’ completion of the radiologic technology program and welcome them into the profession. This was the first pinning ceremony in the program’s 43-year history, and Dr. Karie Solembrino, a graduate of the program, shared valuable advice with the graduates, emphasizing the importance of advocating for patients and providing them with comfort in addition to clinical expertise.
Cynthia Ross, department head and assistant professor, highlighted the rigorous training that the students underwent, which included classroom instruction in clinical procedures, pharmacology, infection control, pathology, and radiation safety. They also spent nearly 1,500 hours in clinical settings, gaining hands-on experience by performing exams on real patients. Mari Strauss, instructor of radiologic technology, commended the graduates for their dedication and emphasized the impact their work will have on saving lives and improving patient outcomes.
