WNBA Ratings Soar: Record Viewership for Fever vs. Sky Game

The WNBA continues to attract massive television ratings as exciting matchups between top teams like Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever and Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky draw in millions of viewers. Sunday’s game between the Fever and Sky was the most-watched WNBA game on any network since 2001, with an average of 2.252 million viewers tuning in and a peak of close to 3 million viewers.

Despite being in the bottom half of the league standings, the Fever and Sky delivered an exciting game that captivated viewers. CBS Sports reported record viewership for the game, highlighting the impressive performance of the young stars on both teams. Caitlin Clark led all players with 23 points, while Angel Reese recorded her sixth straight double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Rookie Kamilla Cardoso also had a strong showing with a double-double of her own, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The rivalry between Clark and Reese dates back to their college days at Iowa and LSU, respectively, and has continued to draw audiences in both the NCAA and WNBA. Their meeting in the NCAA women’s Elite Eight earlier this year attracted 12.3 million viewers, surpassing the viewership of the 2023 national title game between their schools.

Fans can look forward to another showdown between the Fever and Sky this Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN, as these two talented teams go head-to-head once again.
