Wet and Wild XC World Cup at Crans Montana

Crans Montana made a splash as it hosted the XC World Cup series for the first time. The wet weather throughout the week presented a real challenge for riders, adding an exciting and unpredictable element to the race. Riley Amos continued his impressive season in 2024, dominating the muddy conditions to secure his fifth consecutive win. Bjorn Riley capitalized on a small mistake from Luca Martin to claim second place after a grueling race marked by crashes and mechanical issues.

Olivia Onesti celebrated her first XCO victory with a strong performance in the challenging terrain, impressively navigating the course without a dropper post. Onesti built her lead throughout four laps, finishing over a minute ahead of Madigan Munro. Emilly Johnston followed up her XCC Short Track win with a third-place finish, showcasing her consistency in different disciplines.

Loana Lecomte proved once again why she is one of the best riders on the circuit with her commanding performance, securing her tenth XCO victory in tough conditions. Alessandra Keller tried to close the gap early in the race but ultimately settled for second place, 46 seconds behind Lecomte. Puck Pieterse finished third, 1:33 behind Lecomte after winning the XCC Short Track earlier in the season.

Tom Pidcock added another XCO win to his record and maintained an unbeaten streak in races he has participated in this season at Crans Montana. Mathias Flückiger impressed with his strong ride and finished just over a minute behind Pidcock while Luca Braidot overtook Nino Schurter in a sprint to claim third place.

After Crans Montana’s challenging race, riders will take a short break before heading into the final World Cup event leading up to the Olympic XCO, which marks
