West Ham is currently leading the race to sign former Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. The club’s manager, Julen Lopetegui, has identified the need for a striker and sees Abraham as the perfect fit to replace aging players like Michail Antonio and Danny Ings.
Abraham had a successful first season in Rome, scoring 27 goals and winning the Europa Conference League in 2021-22. However, his subsequent seasons were less impressive, with injury issues hindering his performance. With a potential transfer fee of around €30m, Roma is looking to offload Abraham to ease their wage bill.
Aston Villa, where Abraham had a successful loan spell in the past, is also interested in bringing him back. However, West Ham seems to be leading the race for the striker’s signature. Tottenham is also in the mix as they try to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season.
As the summer transfer window progresses, it will be interesting to see where Abraham ends up and how he can make an impact for his new club. If he decides to return to the Premier League, it could enhance his chances of earning a spot in the England national team once again.
