Waynesboro Man Indicted for Rape and Forcible Sodomy; Two-Day Trial Scheduled

1 min read

Jamme Chacon, a 44-year-old man from Petersburg, has been charged with rape and forcible sodomy after allegedly assaulting a woman at a business in Waynesboro last summer. The incident took place on July 23 in a backroom at the Eagle Game Room on West Main Street.

Chacon, who is currently being held at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona, was initially charged with rape in September and has been in jail since then. However, the Waynesboro grand jury recently indicted him on two additional charges of forcible sodomy, adding to his legal troubles.

A two-day jury trial is scheduled to begin on September 17 in Waynesboro Circuit Court. Reporter Brad Zinn, who covers police, courts, and breaking news for The News Leader, will be covering the trial.
