The US military announced the establishment of an artificial port in Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid to the territory. Around 500 tonnes of aid, controlled from Cyprus, will be unloaded from trucks at the temporary pier on the Gaza beach. The aid will be distributed quickly once it arrives in Gaza and no American soldiers will physically be present in the territory.
Meanwhile, Israel launched an offensive on the Gaza Strip following an attack by Hamas on its soil. International aid entering Gaza has been limited due to restrictions at the main crossing points in Israel and Egypt. However, efforts are being made to alleviate this issue through the establishment of an artificial port in Gaza that will facilitate the delivery of much-needed aid to the population. Despite challenges, aid is still entering Gaza by road and through other means to support civilians affected by the conflict.
The British Foreign Office also announced that a ship loaded with aid has left Cyprus for the facility in Gaza, carrying temporary shelter for those displaced by the conflict. The aid will be distributed on the ground by organizations such as World Food Program once it arrives in Gaza. The successful setup of this temporary port marks a positive step towards ensuring that much-needed assistance reaches those affected by this ongoing conflict.
