Unveiling the Health of Hamilton County: 2024 A Picture of Our Health Community Health Assessment Reveals Key Factors Impacting Residents’ Health and Well-Being

1 min read

The Hamilton County Health Department has recently released its 2024 A Picture of Our Health Community Health Assessment, which provides a comprehensive overview of the health status of residents in the area. This report is published every 4-5 years and focuses on eight key factors that impact overall health, including access to healthcare and coverage, environmental health, chronic diseases, infectious diseases, mental health, injuries, substance abuse, and vulnerable populations.

The assessment serves as a tool for the Health Department and the Regional Health Council to develop strategies aimed at improving the health and well-being of the community. These strategies will identify health priorities and involve the community in addressing these issues. The Epidemiology Department of the Health Department plans to release additional informational materials on topics covered in the report as well as create and publish a data dashboard to provide up-to-date local health information.

Dr. Dawn Ford, Epidemiology Department Manager views this 175-page assessment as an opportunity to reduce the prevalence of diseases in the community. She hopes that individuals will adopt healthier behaviors such as increasing exercise, eating better and quitting smoking in response to the findings of the assessment.
