This Wednesday, the United States expressed concern over the reports of mass graves discovered on the grounds of Naser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza Strip. The news came after Gazan authorities found over 320 bodies buried there, prompting Washington to take the accusations seriously and pressure Israel for more information on the matter.
Amnesty International stressed the need for independent investigations into the mass graves to ensure accountability and transparency. Erika Guevara-Rosas, Amnesty International’s senior director, called for immediate access for human rights investigators and forensic experts to the occupied Gaza Strip to preserve evidence and conduct thorough investigations into the alleged war crimes.
The Israeli Army denied the accusations, claiming that they had examined mortal remains in the health complex while conducting a raid to locate hostages held by Palestinians. Meanwhile, Deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel criticized reports in Israeli media that Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich was seeking to legalize 68 outposts in the West Bank. He stated that such actions are dangerous, reckless, and undermine peace efforts. The Biden Administration will continue to urge Israeli officials to refrain from illegal measures that jeopardize peace efforts.
