In May, a tragic incident occurred on the Icon of the Seas when a passenger jumped off the ship while it was only 300 miles from its origin port in Florida. The man did not survive, leaving passengers on board in shock and grief. This was not the first notable event to happen on the ship since its maiden voyage in January.
On Tuesday, another incident occurred when a small blaze erupted in a crew area on the Icon of the Seas, causing it to briefly lose power. Thankfully, the fire was quickly extinguished without any injuries. Despite this minor setback, the ship’s backup power system prevented it from deviating from its planned itinerary.
The Icon of the Seas is currently on a week-long Western Caribbean cruise that departed from Miami, Florida on Saturday. Although this is not the first time an incident has occurred onboard since its launch, it’s important to note that these events are rare and do not reflect the overall safety and quality of service provided by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., owners of the iconic ship.
