The same tornado also caused destruction to Garner Industries and derailed train cars on Cornhusker Highway. Despite the damages, Nick Lahm, director of operations at Piedmontese, expressed gratitude that everyone remained safe and stated that they plan to resume business operations as soon as possible.
Lahm recounted watching the tornado from a safe distance as it picked up several vehicles and tossed them around. The warehouse suffered blown-out windows and damage to common areas like the kitchen. Work will not fully resume at the facility until contractors and the USDA determine that it is safe for employees to return.
The unexpected proximity of the tornado was a surprise to Lahm, who mentioned that while they were prepared for severe weather, experiencing it firsthand was jarring. Despite
