Tornado Strikes Lincoln Warehouse, Causes Damage to Piedmontese Beef Brand and Garner Industries

A tornado that hit Lincoln, Nebraska, on Friday caused damage to the warehouse of Piedmontese, a beef brand located in the area. The same tornado also caused destruction to Garner Industries and derailed train cars on Cornhusker Highway. Despite the damages, Nick Lahm, director of operations at Piedmontese, expressed gratitude that everyone remained safe and stated that they plan to resume business operations as soon as possible.

Lahm recounted watching the tornado from a safe distance as it picked up several vehicles and tossed them around. The warehouse suffered blown-out windows and damage to common areas like the kitchen. Thankfully, the workers had already been relocated to a brick office building for safety. Lahm emphasized the importance of ensuring everyone’s safety and well-being during the storm.

Following tornado protocol, Piedmontese lost power for a brief period but was able to move inventory to a refrigerated area until power was restored by Lincoln Electric Systems. One driver who was on routes during the storm made it home safely and was not in the affected area. Work will not fully resume at the facility until contractors and the USDA determine that it is safe for employees to return.
