Meta’s microblogging platform Threads has surpassed 175 million monthly active users, just one year after its launch in the United States and a few months after expanding to Europe. The platform, also known as Hilos, allows users to share ideas, opinions, and creativity through short text posts, similar to its predecessor Twitter.
Initially launched in the U.S. and other countries with separate versions for iOS and Android devices, Threads later made its way to Europe, facing challenges related to privacy regulations. Despite these obstacles, the growth of Threads has been consistent since its launch.
Upon its release, Threads offered capabilities that were comparable to its competitors, allowing users to create text posts, share links, photos, and videos up to five minutes long. Additional features like re-publishing posts, liking content, saving drafts, and direct messaging were gradually introduced. Meta also rolled out a desktop application for Windows computers and trending topics to enhance the user experience.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has highlighted the steady growth of Threads, underscoring the platform’s success in reaching a diverse audience. While Meta continues to expand the features and reach of Threads
