After 36 years in business, the Rattlesnake Club restaurant in Detroit has announced its permanent closure. The restaurant first opened in 1988 and had always been known for its fine food and outstanding customer service. However, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the industry hard, and despite their best efforts, the Rattlesnake Club could not recover.
Mark Tuttle, Vice President and CFO of the restaurant, expressed his gratitude to loyal customers and dedicated employees for their support throughout the years. He explained that changing dining habits, decreased office occupancy, reduced traffic, and private events not bouncing back have all negatively impacted the restaurant’s revenue since the pandemic.
Tuttle informed employees of the closing on June 29 and offered severance pay. Although saddened by the closure, Tuttle acknowledged that it was time for a change and that they had to move on to new opportunities.
The closure of the Rattlesnake Club serves as a reminder of how businesses across various industries are being affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite their best efforts to adapt to changing circumstances, some businesses simply cannot survive. The restaurant will officially close its doors on June 28, marking the end of an era for a beloved Detroit establishment.
