In Fiscal Year 2023, the Department of Labor received an “A” score on the Small Business Procurement Scorecard, marking its 15th consecutive year of achieving this rating. Compiled by the Small Business Administration, the scorecard evaluates federal agencies’ contracting opportunities for small businesses and underserved communities.
The Department of Labor is one of only four agencies that met all small business goals at both the prime and subcontracting levels in FY 2023. The department made significant strides in supporting small businesses, including $985 million in contract actions at the prime level, which was one of the highest contract spend amounts.
In addition to its efforts to support small businesses, the Department of Labor also awarded $118.5 million in subcontracts to underserved communities, $151.6 million in prime contracts, and $26.8 million in subcontracts to women-owned businesses. The department also increased its subcontract awards to service-disabled veteran-owned businesses by 3.4% over the previous fiscal year, awarding $137 million in prime contracts to disabled veterans.
Furthermore, the Department of Labor processed $295 million for HUBZone communities, which was the highest total in its procurement history.
