The Oklahoma City Thunder have acquired Alex Caruso from the Chicago Bulls in a trade, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. In exchange for Caruso, the Bulls received Josh Giddey, who was drafted by the Thunder in 2021.
Caruso is a two-time All-Defensive guard who signed with the Bulls on a four-year, $37 million contract in 2021. With one year left on his contract, it was expected that he would be traded before the start of the 2024-2025 season. He played for the Oklahoma City Blue, a team in the NBA’s Development League, at the beginning of his career.
The Thunder are pleased to add a strong defensive player to their roster in Caruso, who was part of the Lakers championship team in 2020 and has been named to the NBA All-Defensive Team twice. The Bulls will receive Giddey as part of the deal, who made the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2022 and averaged 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists this season for the Thunder. Giddey’s addition brings depth to the Bulls and is expected to contribute as a playmaker for them.
