Texas has recently experienced significant growth in its economy, with Governor Greg Abbott announcing that the state has set records for total jobs, number of working residents, and size of the labor force. The Texas Workforce Commission’s data for May showed that the state achieved new highs in various aspects.
With a labor force of 15,262,600, Texas also reached a new high for Texans working at 14,655,700. The state added 41,800 non-farm jobs in May, bringing the total number of jobs to 14,195,600 – a record high. Over the past year, Texas has grown at a rate of 2.3% and surpassed the national growth rate by half a point.
May marked the 47th month of monthly job growth in Texas out of the last 49 months. Governor Abbott attributed this success to Texas’ strong workforce and business climate and emphasized his commitment to investing in innovation and supporting future growth. He highlighted how Texas is leading the way in manufacturing today’s products and developing tomorrow’s technologies.
