In the 111th Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar claimed control of the yellow jersey after finishing the second stage alongside rival Jonas Vingegaard. The extreme heat, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees, posed difficulties for all riders on Sunday’s stage. Veteran rider Mark Cavendish was unable to keep up with the peloton, continuing a trend from the previous day. Despite these challenges, Pogacar remained focused on his goal of winning the Tour de France for a second consecutive year.
Looking ahead to Monday’s stage, sprinters like Belgian Jasper Philipsen will have an opportunity for a mass finish. The 230.8-kilometer third stage from Piacenza to Turin features mostly flat terrain, with three fourth-category climbs sprinkled throughout the route. As Pogacar continues his quest for victory, he knows that he must remain vigilant and adapt to any challenges that come his way on this grueling journey through Italy.
