In the aftermath of a destructive storm that hit the Spring Branch area of Houston, Texas, business owners are facing the reality of major damage. A tire shop on Bingle Road and Sowden Road collapsed completely during the storm, leaving the owner and an employee seeking shelter inside. Despite the devastation, the owner shared that stacks of tires inside the building helped protect them when the roof caved in.
Meanwhile, a USPS truck was overturned by strong winds in the area, but fortunately, no one was hurt. The surrounding area was blocked off due to downed power lines and debris scattered. Additionally, several traffic lights were not functioning properly.
Other parts of Houston were also hit hard by the storm, with more damage reported in Downtown and the Houston Heights area. Mayor John Whitmire urged residents to stay home due to broken glass and lack of traffic control measures. An over 100-foot transmission tower fell on Highway 290 at 34th Street, causing power outages and chaos in the area.
