In a major boost for Southampton, BBC Sport’s Simon Stone reports that the loan deal for Taylor Harwood-Bellis has been made permanent for £20m. The 22-year-old defender has been a valuable asset to Russell Martin’s side since joining in September and has played 46 games for the club, which has now secured promotion to the Premier League.
Harwood-Bellis expressed his excitement about the permanent move in an interview with Sky Sports, saying, “I’m over the moon. It had a massive edge to it knowing that I’m staying here permanently from Manchester City, my current parent club.” He went on to praise Southampton, calling it a special football club with amazing fans who have supported the team through tough times and good times.
The defender’s commitment to Southampton highlights his positive experience at the club and his desire to continue contributing to its success in the Premier League. Reflecting on the club’s promotion, Harwood-Bellis said, “We did it for them today. I can’t describe how I feel about this year.”
