The Grand County Rural Health Network is currently seeking nominations for the 2024 Award for Excellence in Health Service. This award aims to recognize individuals or groups who have made a positive impact on community health. Nominations can be submitted until May 24 by describing the nominee in 500 words or less, highlighting their contributions as a role model in community health. Both professionals and volunteers are eligible for nomination.
One of the past award recipients, Therese McElroy, a registered nurse, was honored in 2013 for her 50 years of service, most of which were in Grand County. McElroy worked in various roles, including in the hospital, as a school nurse, and in home health, exemplifying excellence in health service. The Rural Health Network credits her with shaping the way healthcare is provided in Grand County.
Award recipients are chosen by the Health Network’s Board of Directors through a voting process. The winners of the Award for Excellence will be recognized at the kickoff event for the Health Network’s annual fundraiser, Gratitude for Grand, in September.
