Scottish Goalie Andy Firth Leaves Connah’s Quay Nomads for Saudi Pro League Coaching Role under Steven Gerrard

Andy Firth, the 27-year-old Scottish goalkeeper who played for Connah’s Quay Nomads, has announced his departure to take on a coaching role at Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq. Firth had joined Rangers in January 2019 but only played in one game over three years. In July 2022, he moved to Nomads where he played in 32 matches last season and contributed to the team’s victory in the Welsh Cup.

Firth expressed his gratitude for Nomads and thanked them for the past two years and for providing him with an opportunity to finish as Welsh Cup winners. He also acknowledged the support of the coaching staff, players, and volunteers at the club. In his new role at Al-Ettifaq, Firth will be working under his former boss Steven Gerrard, with John Achterberg named as the head goalkeeping coach for Al-Ettifaq. The move brings Firth back under Gerrard’s guidance, providing him with an exciting opportunity to further his coaching career.
