Saints Fortify Roster with Draft Picks and Undrafted Free Agent: Analyzing the Team’s Key Signings

The Saints recently made several key signings, including five draft picks and one undrafted free agent. Among the new additions are quarterback Spencer Rattler, receiver Bub Means, linebacker Jaylan Ford, defensive tackle Khristian Boyd, offensive tackle Josiah Ezirim, and offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga. With these signings, the Saints have solidified their roster for the upcoming season.

Rattler was selected in the fifth round and has played three seasons at Oklahoma and two seasons at South Carolina. He has completed 68.5 percent of his passes for 10,807 yards with 77 touchdowns and 32 interceptions while also rushing for 16 scores. Rattler will now be joining a quarterbacks room that includes Derek Carr and Jake Haener.

The signing of these draft picks marks another step forward for the Saints as they continue to build a competitive and well-rounded team. With both new and returning players on board, the team is gearing up for a successful campaign ahead. Having locked in key positions such as quarterback, receiver, linebacker, defensive tackle, and offensive tackle, the Saints are making strides towards building a strong and versatile roster. With their draft picks now under contract, the team can focus on preparing for the challenges that lie ahead in the upcoming season.

The addition of Fuaga to the offensive line bolsters an already strong unit. Fuaga played college football at Utah State and was not selected in the NFL draft but was signed as an undrafted free agent by New Orleans. His experience playing left guard in college could be valuable to the Saints’ offense.

With only second-round cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry remaining unsigned from this year’s draft class, it appears that New Orleans has successfully navigated this year’s draft process with no major hiccups or setbacks.

Overall, these signings represent another positive step forward for a team that is looking to make a statement this season after missing out on playoffs last year. The Saints are now better equipped to handle whatever challenges come their way in 2021-2022 season with their new additions on board.
