Rupert Friend, known for his roles in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City and The French Dispatch, is set to star in the upcoming Jurassic World film. The actor will be joining Scarlett Johansson, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Jonathan Bailey in the latest installment of the dinosaur franchise from Universal Pictures. While it’s still unknown what role Friend will be playing, the film’s plot is being kept under wraps.
The film is directed by Gareth Edwards with a script by David Koepp and produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley for Kennedy-Marshall. Steven Spielberg is serving as executive producer for Amblin Entertainment. Universal’s EVP of Production Development Sara Scott and Creative Executive of Production Development Jacqueline Garell are overseeing the project.
In addition to his upcoming role in Jurassic World, Friend has starred in several other projects including Netflix’s Roald Dahl shorts The Swan and The Ratcatcher, Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi opposite Ewan McGregor and Michel Franco’s drama Dreams alongside Jessica Chastain. He will next appear in New Line’s horror thriller Companion from Barbarian’s Zach Cregger.
