Beekman, who spent four seasons at Virginia, started 121 of the 126 games he played and averaged 9.5 points and 5.0 assists in 32.7 minutes per game during his college career. In his final season with the Cavaliers, Beekman had a standout performance, averaging 14.3 points on 44.3 percent shooting from the field.

Although Beekman showed promise on the offensive end, his defensive skills are what set him apart. He was a three-time ACC All-Defensive team selection, as well as a two-time recipient of the ACC Defensive Player of the Year Award.
