The upcoming European Parliament elections will take place on June 9, with advance voting starting from May 29. Kauppalehti’s new election machine is designed to help voters make informed choices by allowing them to see which candidates and parties align best with their own views.
There are a total of 20 statements in the election machine, each of which has been answered by 160 different European election candidates. These statements cover a range of topics, including EU operations, foreign and security policy, environment and climate, and values. By answering these statements, voters can gain a comprehensive understanding of the candidates’ thoughts, values, and political alignments.
Voters can respond to the statements with options ranging from “completely disagree” to “completely agree.” The more statements a voter answers, the more accurate the results will be in showing which candidates are most suitable. The results will display the candidates and parties that are most aligned with the voter as well as the least suitable options.
In addition to the Eurovalekone, advance voting for the European Parliament elections will be possible starting from May 29 until June 1 abroad and June 4 in Finland. The final candidate list will be finalized by May 10, which also marks the assignment of candidate numbers for the election. Kauppalehti’s election machine may be updated with more candidates until the registration deadline on May 30.
Overall, the Eurovalekone serves as a valuable tool for voters to make informed decisions in the upcoming European Parliament elections.
