Six school bus supplier companies showcased their latest products and services at the Bus Technology Summit at STN EXPO East in Indianapolis. During the event, attendees were able to participate in hands-on labs that focused on various aspects of transportation management.
Transfinder highlighted the importance of tracking student ridership and utilizing data to streamline district operations. They demonstrated their range of products that make up an all-in-one solution for transportation departments.
Zonar’s lab focused on dispatch management, driver time clock management, student ridership insights, and school bus inspection processes through their electronic verified inspection reporting tool, EVIR. Attendees used sample tablets to complete inspections on a bus model with tags indicating mechanical aspects that needed to be verified.
Tyler Technologies demonstrated how their dynamic routing, onboard tablets, and parent communication mobile app can be customized by transportation staff to better suit their district’s unique needs. They showed how human insights can enhance these tools beyond what AI could achieve on its own.
247Security discussed best practices for integrated video technology both for today and the future, including what districts specifically look for in onboard bus camera technology to better support their operations. REI emphasized the importance of durability and reliability in school bus camera equipment to ensure that information is still captured and protected in the event of emergencies like bus fires or crashes. Attendees also shared feedback on how they use REI products in their day-to-day operations.
Safety Vision provided attendees with a preview of their new video management software, SafetyNET 5, which focuses on enhancing student safety through onboard video integration, as well as driver scoring and coaching. The Bus Technology Summit will return to STN EXPO East in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 21, 2025.
