The Portland Pickles have made history by becoming the first sports team in the United States to legally sell cannabis-based products at live sports events. The baseball team has partnered exclusively with Cycling Frog to sell THC-based (derived from hemp) seltzer drinks. These drinks will be available at Walker Stadium starting on June 18, making them the first of their kind to be sold at a sporting event.
The THC-based seltzer drinks from Cycling Frog contain 2 MG of THC and 4MG of CBG per can, and will be offered in passionfruit and lemon flavors at the ballpark. The Pickles are proud of their innovative partnerships and believe they have a responsibility in the sports industry to set new standards. Ross Campbell, VP of Business Development for the Pickles, stated, “As we saw in 2019, becoming the first team to ever partner with a CBD company, and quickly teams all the way up to the Major League level across sports follow suit.”
In order to purchase these drinks, fans must be at least 21 years of age as each serving contains 2 MG of hemp-derived THC. The Pickles have ensured that they are following all regulations by consulting with the OLCC and Portland Parks and Recreation, which owns the stadium. This new partnership signals a unique and forward-thinking approach by the Portland Pickles in the sports industry.
