Apple has recently introduced a built-in phone recording feature that will be available with the new operating system, IOS18. This feature uses artificial intelligence to make recording and transcription easier and more accessible. During a live call, users can see a record button on their screen and tap it to start recording. Both parties on the call will be alerted that the call is being recorded. The recording will display audio levels through a sound wave, and a timer will show how long the recording has been running. Once the call is done, the recording will be sent to the notes application where it can be played back.
The transcription feature is powered by Apple Intelligence technology and will automatically transcribe the recording for easy reading. Users can also ask the AI to summarize the transcription for a more concise overview. The transcriptions can be saved for future reference, and users can search for specific text within the transcript. They can even combine parts of the conversation with other notes for better organization. The transcription feature currently supports several languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and Portuguese. While mobile experts are recommended to download the developer beta version for bug fixes, others should wait for the official release in a couple of months.
