In a groundbreaking collaboration, Collins Aerospace and Panasonic Avionics Corporation recently unveiled their new business class suite, MAYA, at the 2024 Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany. The innovative product aims to improve comfort, engagement, accessibility and sustainability in air travel.
At the heart of MAYA is a 45-inch Astrova Curve ultra-wide, ultra-high-definition OLED display with a headphone-less audio system. This immersive viewing experience allows passengers to enjoy personalized control of their seating environment through the ADAPT controller, connecting to their electronic devices for enhanced mobility, sensory and cognitive needs.
Ed Dryden, President of Interiors at Collins Aerospace, described MAYA as an innovative combination of enhanced physical, digital and smart technologies that work together seamlessly to enhance the cabin experience. Sustainability is also emphasized with recycled materials used in construction alongside reusable plant-based materials and STARLight composite structures that reduce waste.
Ken Sain, CEO of Panasonic Avionics Corporation highlighted the future-proof nature of MAYA stating it represents the next generation of business class for tech-savvy passengers. Its unique selling point is the 50% more immersive viewing experience compared to traditional theater seating thanks to its 45-inch Astrova Curve OLED display. With this advanced in-flight entertainment option on offer, passengers can now enjoy an unrivaled level of comfort and engagement during their journeys.
