Google has recently introduced a new feature in the Chrome browser for Android devices that allows users to listen to web page content in a read-aloud mode. This feature includes controls for pausing, rewinding, and advancing the text while listening, as well as options to adjust playback speed and change the voice type.
With this feature, users can easily consume content on their mobile devices without having to manually read it. It also provides an enhanced accessibility experience for users who may have visual impairments or difficulty reading small fonts. The feature is similar to listening to a podcast or music, providing a more immersive and enjoyable browsing experience.
Users can choose from twelve supported languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Bengali, and Hindi. Different voice options are also available with distinct tones that enhance the listening experience. A player appears at the bottom of the page when the feature is activated displaying controls and options for playback.
To activate the read-aloud mode simply click on the ‘Listen to this page’ function in the browser options menu. This feature is part of Chrome 125 version for Android devices demonstrating Google’s commitment to improving accessibility and user experience across its services.
