Donna Vidrine, a resident of Iota, expressed her frustration with the ongoing water issues in her home. She has been dealing with problems such as staining of toilets, tubs, and a strong odor that causes headaches for six months. The water has also affected her skin after showers, causing itching and burning sensation that disrupts her sleep.
Donna shared messages from a neighbor who also experienced yellow water with a rust-like smell after showering, especially worsened during rainy days. She feels it is unfair that she has to spend money on whole-house filters, doctor visits, and medications to address the issue, which she believes should not be happening in the first place.
Iota Mayor Cody Leckelt provided a statement explaining that a project update caused problems in the south side of town on a dead-end line, which they are actively flushing out through fire hydrants. They have had the Department of Health and Hospital test water samples in the area, and everything was within normal limits. However, there are occasional instances of discolored water passing through the system, so they are working to continue flushing to clear up the water problem. The Mayor urged residents experiencing similar water issues to contact the town hall for assistance.
