In the latest baseball action, North Augusta clinched second place in Region 4-AAAA with a stunning 12-2 victory over Midland Valley. The Jackets will face off against Strom Thurmond on Monday and enter the Class AAAA playoffs as a No. 2 seed when they kick off on April 29th. Meanwhile, Midland Valley has been named the region’s No. 3 seed and will take on Silver Bluff on Monday.
Moving to girls’ soccer, South Aiken emerged victorious in their final game of the season, claiming the Region 4-AAAA title with a thrilling 2-1 win over Aiken. Goals by Madee Whittle were assisted by Zoe Schifer and Emmy Crane, securing their place as the No. 1 seed in the Class AAAA playoffs. They will receive a first-round bye and host a second-round game on May 2nd. Aiken will face off against Midland Valley on Monday in their final game of the season.
In another exciting region championship matchup, Fox Creek edged out Strom Thurmond with a narrow 1-0 victory to claim the Region 3-AA title. Azelinn Hall scored the only goal of the game, leading her team to a perfect 6-0 region record. Fox Creek will face Silver Bluff on Monday and enter the Class AA playoffs as a No. 1 seed, starting on April 30th. Meanwhile, Strom Thurmond is still battling for third place in the region and will face Saluda on Thursday before heading into postseason playoff competition as well.
