Rashid Khan’s heroics put Afghanistan in command, but Bangladesh still has a chance to make it to the semis

Rashid Khan’s impact in the T20 World Cup 2024 match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh has put the latter in a strong position to win and qualify for the semi-finals. By dismissing Soumya Sarkar and Towhid Hridoy, Khan has given Afghanistan an advantage that could help them secure a spot in the semis. However, Bangladesh still have a chance to make a comeback if they chase down the target of 116 runs in 12.1 overs, or in 12.4 overs if they hit a six once the scores are tied.

Following a brief rain shower, Bangladesh will be chasing on a wet outfield, which could present some challenges for their bowling performance. Despite this obstacle, Bangladesh can still make it to the semis if they manage to keep their focus and perform well. Meanwhile, Afghanistan is confident that their spin-friendly conditions will work in their favor as they play at the same venue where they previously defeated Australia.

In the first innings, Rishad Hossain and Taskin Ahmed led a strong bowling performance for Bangladesh, causing a collapse in the middle of Afghanistan’s innings and restricting their scoring. However, Rashid Khan’s late cameo helped Afghanistan reach a total of 115 runs in 20 overs, leaving Bangladesh with some work to do in order to keep up with them.
