South Africa and England have secured their spots in the T20 World Cup semifinals after competing in Group 1 and Group 2, respectively.
In Group 1, India is currently leading with 4 points and is in a strong position to qualify for the semifinals. If they defeat Australia on Tuesday, they will finish as the top team in the group. Meanwhile, Afghanistan is in second place with just 2 points and will need to beat Bangladesh to secure a spot in the semifinals.
If India loses to Australia and Afghanistan wins against Bangladesh on Wednesday, all three teams will end up with 4 points each. In this case, net run rate (NRR) will come into play. Afghanistan needs to win by at least a big margin for them to qualify for the semifinals while India can miss out if both Australia and Afghanistan win by more than 120 runs in their final matches.
In Group 2, England has already qualified with 4 points after defeating USA on Sunday. South Africa’s win over West Indies on Monday also secured their spot in the semifinals with a total of 6 points. If they win their next match against Sri Lanka on Wednesday, they will finish atop of the group.
