Italian playmaker Nicolo Zaniolo is reportedly being pursued by Atalanta, who are eager to secure his services after his loan spell at Aston Villa. Despite Fiorentina initially being considered favorites to sign him, they are only willing to take him on a loan deal with the option of making it permanent next summer.
Atalanta, however, have made contact with Galatasaray, Zaniolo’s parent club, and are prepared to take him on a loan with an obligation to buy at the end of next season. The Italian club’s head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has reportedly approved the move and is keen to secure the services of the former Roma star.
Fiorentina had been interested in signing Zaniolo, but their initial offer was rejected by Galatasaray. They now face competition from Atalanta, who are looking to hijack their pursuit of the 24-year-old. It remains to be seen which club will ultimately secure Zaniolo’s signature and whether he will be able to make a lasting impact in Serie A.
