During President Obama’s administration, the Deferred Action on Childhood Program (DACA) was launched, providing relief from deportation to over 500,000 individuals brought to the US as children. According to estimates from the Pew Research Centre in 2021, Indians are the third-largest group of undocumented immigrants in the US, following those from Mexico and El Salvador. The report also highlighted an increase in undocumented immigrants from India, Guatemala and Honduras since 2017.
