The Sports Humanitarian of the Year award, presented at the 2024 ESPYS on July 10, will be awarded to four teams that have been nominated for their outstanding contributions to society. Among the nominees are Angel City Football Club, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Miami Heat.
The Philadelphia Eagles have also been nominated for their organization’s Eagles Autism Foundation, led by Chairman and CEO Jeffery Lurie. The foundation aims to raise awareness about autism globally through funding research and community grants.
The Eagles Autism Challenge, a cycling/running/walking 5K event held in 2024, raised over $8.1 million and has raised over $30 million since its inception in 2018. The proceeds from the foundation have funded 116 autism research projects and community grants worldwide.
In addition to funding research, the Eagles Autism Foundation provides year-round support including a sensory room at Lincoln Financial Field, a neurodiverse employment program, and programs for individuals of all abilities. This dedication to supporting autism awareness and research has earned the Philadelphia Eagles a nomination for the prestigious Sports Humanitarian of the Year award.
