Paris St-Germain forward Sand Baltimore has signed a four-year contract with Chelsea, leaving the French club on a free transfer. The 24-year-old scored nine goals in 34 games for PSG last season and will add depth to Chelsea’s attacking options.
As a talented player, Baltimore is expected to play a squad role at Chelsea, stepping in for the injured Sam Kerr as she recovers from a knee injury. She will join a competitive attacking line-up at Kingsmeadow, contending with the likes of Catarina Macario, Mia Fishel, Mayra Ramirez, and Aggie Beever-Jones for playing time.
The signing of Baltimore marks the first permanent addition for new Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor, who recently took over from Emma Hayes. Bompastor made the move from Lyon, where she had a successful coaching career.
With 28 caps for France and previous experience in top-tier competitions like the French top flight and the Euro 2022, Baltimore brings a wealth of talent and experience to Chelsea. Although she missed out on selection for the 2023 World Cup, she is poised to make an impact in the Women’s Super League for the defending champions.
