Willie Nelson, the legendary country musician, was unable to perform at the first few shows of the “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” due to health issues. The tour kicked off in Alpharetta, Georgia on June 21 and just hours before it began, it was announced that Nelson would not be able to perform as he had been advised by doctors to rest for the next four days.
Despite his absence, his son Lukas Nelson and the Family Band took the stage in his place while other performers like Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and Celisse still performed their sets as scheduled. There is no specific date announced for Willie’s return yet but fans hope to see him back on tour soon.
Unfortunately, Willie Nelson also missed the show in Charlotte, North Carolina and is not expected at the upcoming show in Raleigh. However, there are still stops scheduled for Syracuse and Wantagh, New York as well as Holmdel, New Jersey. Despite his recent health issues, Willie continues to be a music legend with a career spanning over seven decades during which he has written hits like “Crazy,” “Funny How Times Slips Away,” and “On the Road Again.” His contributions to music have earned him a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and he recently released a book about his songwriting.
